Features and Benefits
slide 1 of 1
A 1-part, black, solvent-free acetoxy-silicone-based paste for bonding, sealing and gasketing
LOCTITE® SI 5940 is a black, multi-substrate, acetoxy-silicone compound primarily used as a general-purpose sealing and bonding agent, gap-filling rubber adhesive or FIPG (form-in-place gasket). It cures when exposed to moisture in the air to form a tough, flexible, waterproof, oil-resistant silicone rubber bond. It’s solvent-free and offers excellent resistance to aging, shrinkage, cracking and discolouring. LOCTITE SI 5940 adheres to an array of materials, including clean/bare metal, glass, most non-oily woods, silicone resin, vulcanized silicone rubber, ceramics, natural and synthetic fibre and many painted and plastic surfaces. Though typically used in applications with an operating temperature range of -50°C to 200°C (-58°F to 392°F), it can briefly handle temperatures up to 220°C (428°F).
